Day 2 - PAKBENG / PAK OU / LUANG PRABANG (B/)
After breakfast, continue your cruise along the Mekong River towards the former Royal capital of Luang Prabang (approx. 6 hours depending on the water level). On the way, stop at Pak Ou, at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers, to visit the sacred caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, home to hundreds of Buddha statues. Continue to Ban Xang Hai village where sticky rice wine distillation can be seen and then stop at Vat Longkhoune temple, famous for its 18th century frescoes.
Picnic lunch on board.
Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, transfer and check-in at your hotel.

Day 3 - LUANG PRABANG(B)
After breakfast, visit Vat Xieng Thong, considered as the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang with roofs that sweep low to the ground, Vat Visoun temple with its Singhalese-style stupa, That Makmo, and Vat Aham, one of the city’s major tutelary shrines housing the puppets of Lao ancestors. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum (former King’s Palace) displaying a collection of personal artifacts of the Royal Family. Continue to visit the nearby Vat Mai temple, which was the residence of a Buddhist patriarch before 1975 before climbing Phousi Hill to enjoy sunset over the city and the Mekong River.

Day 4 - LUANG PRABANG / KHOUANG SY / LUANG PRABANG(B)
After breakfast, excursion by car to the beautiful waterfalls of Khouang Sy nestled in the lush tropical vegetation. On the way, visit some hill tribes’ villages such as the H’Mong village of Ban Thinkeo and the Khmu village of Ban Thapaene. Return to Luang Prabang and continue to visit the weaving village of Ban Xang Khong where traditional Sa paper is also produced. Time at leisure to stroll through the H’Mong market.

Day 6 - LUANG PRABANG / VANG VIENG(B)
After breakfast, depart for Vang Vieng through an astonishing landscape of limestone karsts. Visit a few villages along the road before reaching Vang Vieng around lunch time. In the afternoon, visit the Vang Vieng Caves. Overnight in Vang Vieng.
Day 7 - VANG VIENG / VIENTIANE(B)
After breakfast, drive to Vientiane (about 3 hours).In the afternoon, visit Vat Sisaket, the only original temple in Vientiane (built in 1818 - it is the sole survivor of a Thai invasion in 1828), the Ho Phrakeo, the former Royal Chapel, where an Emerald Buddha dating back to the time of the Lane Xang Kingdom was enshrined, the Patouxai and That Luang stupa.

Jour 2 11Nov09 : CHIANG SEAN / CHIANG KHONG / HOUEI SAY / PAKBENG(Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Après le petit déjeuner, partez en voiture au poste frontière thaï de Chiang Khong (environ.1h30) et traversez le Mékong pour rejoindre le poste frontière lao de Houei Say.
Accueil à l’arrivée au poste frontière de Houei Say et transfert à l’embarcadère. Empruntez un bateau traditionnel pour une croisière au fil du Mékong vers Pakbeng (environ 7 heures en fonction du niveau des eaux). Enserré de montagnes couvertes de jungle, le flot impétueux du Mékong franchit à plusieurs reprises d’impressionnants rapides. En route, arrêtez-vous pour visiter des villages de tribus montagnardes tels que le village H’Mong de Ban Houeilampene et le village Thai Lu de Ban Kouaytoune. Arrivée à Pakbeng, un bourg rustique perché à flanc de colline qui offre de spectaculaires panoramas sur le Mékong. Enregistrement à votre hôtel.

Jour 3 12Nov09 : PAKBENG / OUDOMXAY / MUANG LA(Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Après le petit-déjeuner, promenade à pied dans la forêt pour découvrir un beau village Khmu à Pakbeng. Puis depart vers Oudomxay. La route suit la vallée de la rivière Nam Beng peuplée de Khmu et de Thai Daeng (Thai Rouges) qui ont préservé leurs croyances et leur mode de vie ancestral.
Continuation vers Muang La, tout près d’Oudomxay. À l’arrivée, enregistrement à l’hôtel.

Jour 4 13Nov09 : MUANG LA(Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Départ en minibus pour Pak Khai; cette agréable introduction de 20mn se fera à travers de magnifiques vues sur la rivière Nampak, les rizières en terrasse et les petits villages du peuple Khamu. A l’arrivée, départ à pied. Ce trek sera l’occasion de rencontrer des paysans locaux travaillant dans les rizières. Après 1 heure et demi de marche arrivée au village de Phavie, situé en haut d’une colline pour déjeuner sous forme pique nique. La marche reprendra après ce déjeuner afin d’atteindre de fraîches cascades. Vers 14h30 chemin retour en fin d’après-midi. Dîner à l’hôtel

Jour 5 14Nov09 : MUANG LA / NONG KHIO(Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Route en direction de Muang Khua (environ 1 heure 30) embarquement sur un bateau lent traditionnel pour une descente de la Nam Ou jusqu’à Muang Ngoï (environ 3 heures). Arrêt dans un joli village Thaï Ed. Arrivée à Muang Ngoï. Déjeuner dans un restaurant local. L’après-midi, départ pour une promenade à pieds (environ 2 heures), dans les environs de Muang Ngoï au milieu de paysages de rizières et de falaises karstiques rappelant la baie d’Along. Puis continuation en bateau jusqu’à Nong Khiaw. Installation à l’hôtel. Dîner à l’hôtel

Jour 6 15Nov09 : NONG KHIO / LUANG PRABANG (Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Poursuite du voyage en bateau traditionnel sur la rivière Nam Ou: après quatre heures de navigation, arrêt au confluent avec le Mékong où se trouvent les grottes de Pak Ou, célèbres pour leurs innombrables représentations du Bouddha. Continuation pour Luang Prabang A l’arrivée à Luang Prabang, enregistrement à l’hôtel.

Jour 7 16Nov09 : LUANG PRABANG(Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Après le petit-déjeuner, visitez le Vat Xieng Thong, considéré comme le plus beau temple de Luang Prabang avec ses toits superposés qui descendent jusqu’au sol, le temple de Vat Visoun avec son stupa de style singhalais, le That Makmo, puis le Vat Aham, un des principaux sanctuaires de la ville dédié aux ancêtres des Laos. Dans l’après-midi, visitez le Musée National (l’ancien Palais Royal) qui présente une collection d’objets personnels de la famille royale. Continuez avec la visite du temple de Vat Mai, qui fut la résidence d’un patriarche bouddhiste jusqu’en 1975. Finissez la journée par l’ascension du Mont Phousi d’où vous découvrirez une vue panoramique sur l’ancienne capitale royale et sur le Mékong au coucher du soleil.

Après le petit-déjeuner, excursion en voiture aux superbes chutes de Khouang Sy, nichées dans la luxuriante végétation tropicale. En chemin, visitez les villages des tribus montagnardes comme le village H’Mong de Ban Thinkeo et le village Khmu de Ban Thapaene. Retour à Luang Prabang et continuation par la route pour visiter le village de tisserands de Ban Xang Khong où l’on produit également le papier traditionnel à base d’écorce de mûrier. Temps libre pour flâner dans le marché H’Mong.

Vous quittez la capitale et continuation par route vers la province de Xieng Khouang (environ 8heures de route) En route, vous traverserez de multiples villages, rencontrerez de nombreuses tribus laotiennes et profiterez des paysages magiques qui jalonnent le chemin.
Merci de noter qu’il s’agit d’une longue journée de route.

Jour 10 19Nov09 : XIENG KHOANG (Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Après le petit-déjeuner, départ pour une excursion jusqu'à Mouang Khoune, ancienne capitale de la province, qui a été presque entièrement détruite par les bombardements américains au cours de la Guerre du Vietnam. En cours de trajet, visite des villages de minorités ethniques H’Mong, Thai Dam (Thai Noirs) et Phuan. Tour d’orientation de Mouang Khoune et visite des vestiges des temples de Vat Phia Vat et de Vat Tha Foune.
Continuation par la visite des Sites 2 (qui abrite les plus grosses jarres) et 3 de la Plaine des Jarres, tous deux situés à proximité de Mouang Khoune avant le retour vers Phonesavanh (Xieng Khouang).

Après le petit-déjeuner tôt du matin, visite du Site 1, à 10 Km de Phonesavanh qui regroupe 300 jarres.
Puis continuation par route vers Vang Vieng (environ 5-6 heures) à travers des paysages de montagnes karstiques de toute beauté. En route, visite de quelques villages.
À l’arrivée, enregistrement à l’hôtel.

Après le petit-déjeuner, visite des grottes calcaires et des environs de Vang Vieng avant de départ par la route pour Vientiane (3h de route).
Arrêt sur le site archéologique de Vang Xang, dont la dizaine de Bouddhas sculptés dans la roche dateraient du XIe siècle. À l’arrivée, visitez le Vat Sisaket (construit en 1818, c’est le seul temple de Vientiane qui n’a pas été détruit lors de l’invasion thaï de 1828) et le grand stupa doré de That Luang, fondé par le roi Setthathirath en 1566 et symbole de la souveraineté laotienne et de la religion bouddhiste.

Jour 13 22Nov09 : VIENTIANE / PAKSE / ILE DE KHONG(Pdéj /Déj/Dîner)
Après le petit-déjeuner, transfert matinal à l’aéroport pour votre vol a destination de Pakse. Accueil à l’arrivée à l’aéroport de Pakse et transfert à l’embarcadère. Empruntez un bateau traditionnel pour 2 heures de croisière au fil du Mékong en direction de l’ancienne capitale royale de Champassak. Escale au village de Houei Thomo et balade jusqu’aux ruines voisines du temple khmer de Oum Moung, caché au cœur d’une épaisse forêt. A l’arrivée à Champassak, continuation la croisière vers Vat Phou (à 8 km de la ville), un temple pré-Angkorien construit entre le 6eme et le 13eme siècle et classé au Patrimoine Mondial depuis 2002. Dans l’après-midi, continuez en bateau jusqu’à Ban Hatsai Khoune et traversez le Mékong pour rejoindre l’Ile de Khong. Enregistrement à votre hôtel.

Après le petit-déjeuner, empruntez une pirogue à moteur pour une croisière au cœur du labyrinthe de voies d’eau formant le paradis tropical de Siphandone, “Les 4.000 Iles”. Durant la saison des pluies, le Mékong atteint une largeur de 14 Km; quand les eaux refluent, elles laissent derrière elles une myriade d’îles et d’îlots. Visitez les îles de Det et Som pour avoir un aperçu du mode de vie traditionnel des pêcheurs locaux.
Arrivée sur l’île de Khone.
Découvrez les vestiges coloniaux de l’île de Khone, dont une vieille voie ferrée construite par les Français en 1897 afin de contourner les puissants rapides qui perturbent la navigation sur le Mékong. Continuez vers les chutes de Liphi, où vit une colonie de dauphins d’eau douce, les « dauphins de l’Irrawaddy » une espèce rare en voie de disparition. Retour sur l’Ile de Khong. Après le petit-déjeuner, traversée du Mekong et continuation par la route jusqu’aux célèbres chutes de Khone Phapeng, les plus importantes au cours des 4,350 Km de voyage du Mékong, du Plateau Tibétain à la Mer de Chine. Retour par la route à Pakse.
Arrêtez-vous ensuite au village de Ban Khiet Ngong, où vit la minorité ethnique Suay, et faites une promenade à dos d’éléphant à travers la jungle primaire pour explorer les mystérieuses ruines du temple de Phou Asa. A l’arrivée à Pakse, enregistrement à votre hôtel.

Après le petit-déjeuner, excursion à Tadlo sur le Plateau des Boloven. En chemin, arrêt dans les villages Yaheune et Lavai. A l’arrivée à Tadlo, découvrez les chutes de Seset et visitez les villages tribaux voisins peuplés par les ethnies Alack et Nge.
Déjeuner à Tadlo.
Continuation vers la fertile région de Paksong. En route, visitez un village Kaleum et une plantation de thé et de café puis arrêtez-vous aux impressionnantes chutes de Tadfane avant l’arrivée à Pakse.
